How do you ensure the purposeful use of technology, overcome roadblocks, and scale personalized learning?  Walk through the elements of personalized learning while exploring how one district scaled personalized learning to 115 schools. Participants will work through examples from how to select technologies to monitoring data for progression and outcomes. Attendees will leave with tools that support personalized learning to maximize student achievement and their return on investment.

 

A continental breakfast will be served at 8:30 and the workshop will run from 9 till 1.  Lunch is available at many locations close to APL.

 

Presenter: David Rose

David Rose, Senior Specialist, Education Outreach

With 24 years in PK-12 education, David Rose joined Lexia Learning in August 2017. After beginning his career as an elementary school teacher in North Carolina, David focused on leading rural and urban districts to provide equitable access to technology and resources to support teachers and students in reaching academic goals.

 

Most recently, David was the Deputy Chief in the Office of Teaching and Learning for the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS). Overall, he managed the budget and academic strategy for all content areas, special education, language acquisition, and early childhood. In DCPS, he was responsible for launching and scaling their personalized programs to 112 schools; seen as a national model to accelerate student learning and promote learner agency. This included the implementation of Lexia Core 5 in all elementary schools as an integrated aspect of the literacy block.

 

David, a North Carolina Teaching Fellow, holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, as well as a master’s in Educational Technology from Pepperdine University.
